Project Overview

Northern Star Flooring Ltd was contracted by Enfinium to install a high-performance flooring system within the Turbine Hall. Given the industrial setting and operational requirements, the flooring solution needed to provide excellent durability, chemical resistance, and rapid curing to minimise downtime.

Challenges & Requirements

• The project required completion within a strict timeframe of one night to avoid disruption to operations.
• The flooring needed to withstand heavy foot traffic and potential exposure to chemicals.
• The existing substrate required preparation to ensure optimal adhesion of the new system.

Solution Provided

Northern Star Flooring Ltd installed KDR’s MMA Polyac 18 & 62 system, a fast-curing and durable methyl methacrylate (MMA) resin flooring solution, which was ideal for the project due to its:

• Rapid curing time – allowing for a complete installation within a single night.
• High chemical resistance – ensuring longevity in an industrial environment.
• Seamless and anti-slip finish – improving safety and ease of maintenance.

Installation Process

1. Surface Preparation: The existing substrate was mechanically prepared to ensure a strong bond between the floor and the new MMA system.
2. Primer Application: KDR’s MMA Polyac 18 was applied as a primer to enhance adhesion.
3. Body Coat Installation: The main flooring layer, KDR’s MMA Polyac 62, was applied, providing strength and chemical resistance.
4. Finishing: The floor was completed with a seamless and slip-resistant finish.
