Overview

Northern Star Flooring Ltd was appointed to complete a full floor refurbishment at Falcon Coaches, based in South West London. The job consisted of preparing and recoating 283 square metres of heavily worn concrete using high build epoxy paint, along with 60 metres of internal line marking to support the operational layout of the premises.

Floor Condition

The existing floor presented a significant challenge. It was coated in multiple thick and heavily chipped layers of old paint, creating an uneven and unstable base that required intensive mechanical preparation before any coatings could be applied.

Project Challenges

One of the main obstacles on this job was the complete lack of available power on-site. Our team overcame this by using petrol-powered surface preparation equipment and arranging alternative lighting sources to maintain safe and productive working conditions throughout the project.

The Solution

Following surface preparation using diamond grinding techniques, the entire area was coated with a durable high build epoxy resin system. This system was selected for its excellent adhesion, abrasion resistance, and suitability for demanding environments like bus depots. The final stage involved applying 60 metres of precision line marking to clearly define walkways and vehicle paths.

Outcome

The transformation was dramatic. The new flooring system not only revitalised the space but also improved safety, cleanliness, and overall usability. Despite the limitations presented by the power supply, the project was completed on time and to a high standard, once again demonstrating our ability to deliver high-quality results nationwide under challenging conditions.
